Tenerife is a popular vacation destination in the Canary Islands, famous for its stunning beaches, nightlife, and year-round sunshine. But beyond the usual tourist hotspots, there are some hidden gems in Tenerife that are worth exploring. In this blog, we'll share some of the best hidden gems that you should check out during your trip to Tenerife.
Playa de Benijo
Playa de Benijo is a beautiful black sand beach located on the north coast of Tenerife, which is one of the Canary Islands. The beach is situated in a natural cove that is surrounded by steep cliffs and rugged terrain, giving it a dramatic and stunning appearance. Playa de Benijo is known for its strong waves and consistent swells, which makes it a popular destination for surfers. It's also a great spot for sunbathing and relaxing, as there are plenty of shady spots under the cliffs where you can escape the heat of the sun. One of the unique features of Playa de Benijo is the abundance of rock formations that jut out of the water and line the beach. These rocks provide a natural playground for visitors to explore and climb, making it a fun destination for families and adventure-seekers. You can find it's exact location in our Tenerife travel map.

La Laguna
La Laguna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic town that is often overlooked by tourists. The town has a rich cultural heritage, and its architecture is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Gothic styles. You can explore the town's cobbled streets, visit its impressive cathedral, and discover its many museums and art galleries. La Laguna also has a vibrant nightlife, with many bars and restaurants serving traditional Canarian cuisine.

Anaga Rural Park
The Anaga Rural Park is a natural reserve that covers the north-eastern part of Tenerife. The park is a hidden gem, with lush forests, rugged coastline, and impressive rock formations. It's the perfect place for hiking, with several trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. You can also visit the park's many hamlets and villages, where you can experience the traditional way of life in Tenerife. A variety of hiking trails in Anaga Rural Park lead to dramatic viewpoints overlooking steep cliffs and the ocean. The park is somewhat undiscovered by massive tourism. Most tourists seem to stick around in Teide National Park while Anaga Rural Park has exceptionally beauty of its own. Definitely worth your while!

Garachico
Garachico is a small coastal town that was once Tenerife's main port. The town has a rich history, and its narrow streets and picturesque houses reflect its past. You can visit the town's many historic buildings, such as the Church of Santa Ana and the Castillo de San Miguel. You can also relax on the town's black sand beach or take a dip in its natural pools.
